Roz Roz has been a volunteer for 18 months, maintaining and learning new skills for employment and contact with the community and other volunteers. “I never knew how much there is out there for the community, the services and activities, and how many people are participating.” Roz enjoys stand up paddle boarding. And many of us will relate to avoiding high school Physical Education classes - Roz would have to write lines for not bringing PE gear, repeatedly! Carbon paper from her local X-Lotto helped get them done quickly.
Michele Michele was uncertain of what to expect on her first day 4 years ago - it had been a long time since her office job. Now she enjoys the diversity of people and sharing her knowledge as part of her Volunteer Support Officer role. Michele is a backup singer in a band, reads music and plays the piano.
Cathy Cathy was petrified on her first day 3 months ago! “I had never done reception work and was surprised how much I enjoy it. I thought I was tech phobic but the other volunteers are enormously helpful and patient.” Cathy is an accredited artistic roller-skating coach and has been roller skating for 45 yrs as part of a club!
Maxine Maxine has been volunteering for such a long time she can’t recall when she started. “I enjoy the people, community, I left once but I missed it too much”. Maxine also works part time and loves gardening.
Adele Adele started volunteering in August 2022, becoming a Volunteer Support Officer not long after. “I just love meeting new people the community spirit and what the centre has to offer”. Adele has an infectious positive personality. She sings and dances a lot and practices her zumba moves wherever she is - even at the centre!
